Each year, CoALL offers multiple grants to support the educational and professional development needs of its members.

These educational grants may be used to support attend library-related conferences, participate in relevant professional development opportunities, or help defray the cost of library school education.

Applications for these grants are collected by the Grants and Scholarship Chair and approved by the Executive Board.  All inquiries and application should be addressed to the Grants and Scholarship Chair.

On an annual basis, CoALL currently offers one financial award:

  1. CoALL Membership Educational Grant – awarded in March
    • $500 annually
    • Timing allows recipients to apply funds to SWALL (April), SLA (June), AALL Annual Meeting (July), and other pre-approved educational endeavors
    • Open to Institutional/Individual members
    • Recipients must provide a summary of take-aways for posting to the CoALL Blog

Letters of recommendation may be requested to assist the Executive Board with the award process.

Grants will be awarded on the basis of:

  • Proven or potential ability of the applicant
  • Promise of future usefulness and permanence in the law library field
    Financial need
  • Contribution of the application to CoALL and/or the profession
  • Need for representation by a member of CoALL at the institute/meeting

When awarding grants, preference will be given to those who previously have not been awarded a CoALL grant, demonstrate significant financial hardship, or show how the recipient’s attendance at this event will generate significant organizational value for CoALL.

Use the CoALL Grant Application Form to apply for any of our three grants.

Are you a CoALL member? If not, it’s easy to join. Student membership is $5 and individual/institutional membership is $20 per year. To join, submit a membership form.
